Arts & Culture - Colwood Welcomes You
We acknowledge with gratitude the Lək̓ʷəŋən People for allowing us to live, work, and play on their lands. We honor their art that reflects their ongoing connection to the land, teachings, and worldview that contributes to the wellbeing of all peoples and future generations.

at a Glance
After becoming a Society on February 24, 2021, we have since ” lived our mission” to create and facilitate arts and culture events in our community!
March saw the unveiling of the Emily Carr interpretive sign on the Painter Trail; May, our first visual arts show in Royal Bay; July, two consecutive weekends of pop-up flatdeck theatre performed by Four Seasons Musical Theatre; September, the Teechamista Arts Show in recognition of “every child matters”; September 30, supportive assistance with, and participation in, the Truth and Reconciliation Gathering hosted by Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations at Royal Bay Beach; and upcoming for November, providing sponsorship for the Coast Collective “Gifts and Wishes” Holiday Showcase.
Our recent strategic planning day on October 16 was an opportunity for us to focus on the values that have guided our programming and that will shape our future community involvement: diversity, quality, and inclusivity. We have also circulated a survey on facebook for Colwood residents to share their interests. In December, we will be participating in a workshop on truth and reconciliation in order to engage more meaningfully with our First Nations community.
Our goal for 2022 is to provide the Colwood community exciting and engaging arts and cultural programming and advocacy!
As we take time to reflect and to celebrate, we also say “Thank you”! Thank you to those organizations and businesses who have supported our initiatives—Gablecraft Homes Ltd, Seacliff Properties, Don Mann Excavating, Zeilke Design, the City of Colwood. Thank you to those private donors who believe in our vision…. And thank you to the citizens of Colwood for your warm hearted support!

“Arts and culture make considerable and necessary contributions to the well-being of communities. Arts and culture are powerful tools with which to engage communities in various levels of change. They are a means to public dialogue, contribute to the development of a community’s creative learning, create healthy communities capable of action, provide a powerful tool for community mobilization and activism, and help build community capacity and leadership.” ~ Creative City Network of Canada
